Most iPhone users know that iOS shows an icon of the app on the home-screen even before the app is fully installed on the device, but on Android devices, the user can only see the app on home-screen when it has finished installation. Now, as per XDA, Google is bringing a copy of Apple’s feature for its users in the update of Android 12. Still, it is not clear yet whether this feature will come in the update of Android 12 or to a newer version of the Play Store, 25.3.17-21 in this case, but this feature is still in development. Those sighting the experiment will get the placeholder sign for apps that are presently being downloaded and it is assumed that the progress bar will also appear on the outside of the app while updating the apps. We could not repeat this app performance on a Pixel 4-XL having a similar Play Store version and the Android beta 12 with the home-screen of Pixel Launcher.
Google believes that this upcoming update of Android 12 is the most aspiring privacy launch so far, which can provide more control to the users over different features like microphone, setting dashboard, and camera. Google is also bringing the new feature named “Nearby Device” permission in the upcoming update of Android for cohort’s apps when setting up headphones, wearable, and watches because these need companions’ apps for their preliminary setup. During the beginner setup, users are asked to grant permission for their location, as Bluetooth is required to scan and discover the accessory in question.
Google has said that it has received feedback from the users and the developers that this process was unclear and not to indicate over–granting location when the app just requires Bluetooth. The upcoming update of Android 12 is bringing the solution in the form of nearby device permission to allow finding, link to, and discovering the relative position of the device. The primary part of the effort from Google is to promote data minimization. It contains resetting permissions from apps that are not in use, and a feature of new app hibernation that will have the ability to make the privacy of the users secure, and it will also free the storage space and improve the battery performance.
